1. Why join Barclays Financial Planning?
How quickly can I progress in the company?
Our vision to become the UK’s number one financial planning business means not only offering Select Choice to the High Street, but also providing a remuneration package to attract the very best talent.
And we’re just as passionate about promoting from within – indeed most Area Directors started as Financial Planning Managers. As such, you can rest assured that we’ll provide all the support and training you’ll need to develop your career.
If, in the future, you’d like to broaden your horizons, there’s also the opportunity to move into other areas of Barclays.
What training is available?
You must be fully CeFA or FPC qualified to join our award-winning induction programme. However, we’re keen to support you through your AFPC.
Do I need a professional qualification?
See above - CeFA or FPC is required.
Can I gain a professional qualification?
See above – you can work towards your AFPC.
2. What's it like working with Barclays Financial Planning?
How often do I get to meet clients and get out and about?
Practically every day. Face-to-face advising is at the heart of what we do and you’ll never advise a client over the phone.
Do I work as part of a team?
Yes, you’ll be part of a team of Financial Planning Managers, working together under an Area Director. However, your day-to-day team will be the retail partners who will supply most of your business and it’s worth bearing in mind that the most successful Financial Planning Managers are the ones that build fantastic relationships within their branch.
3. Are there opportunities to work abroad?
What opportunities are there to work internationally?
Whilst international assignments are not overly common, it’s not impossible with the scale of our international operations and opportunities do arise.
Is there a chance to use a second language?
We’re always keen to ensure that our Financial Planning Managers reflect the markets they service. For example, if you work in an area of the UK that has a large ethnic community, the ability to interact in the same language would, of course, be an enormous advantage.
4. What are the benefits of working for a bank?
What are the perks?
For starters, in terms of your career development, you’ll be joining one of the world’s biggest banks during one of our most exciting periods of growth. Then there’s our unrivalled commitment to training and development. Add to that our generous pension contributions, attractive SAYE, Share Purchase and company car schemes and rest assured you’ll enjoy the kind of rewards your talents deserve.
